This summer, head out to the beautiful Lake Oroville and stay at the Holiday Inn Chico.

Lake Oroville is the second largest reservoir in all of California. With 167 miles of shoreline and 15,500 surface acres, there’s plenty of room to go on a lake adventure! Rent a boat, go fishing or go hiking. There’s so much to do and explore in such a gorgeous place.

Boats are a great way to take in the beauty of the lake and have some fun! Boats can be rented at the Bidwell Marina or the Lake Oroville Marina.

The trails at Lake Oroville have something for everyone! Choose from hiking trails, equestrian trails, or biking trails. There are five different hiking trails varying in terrain and length. Stroll the 3.1 mile Dan Beebee Trail and check out the visitor center, take on the 17.5 mile Loafer Creek Trail, or see breath taking views on top of the Oroville Dam. Horse riders have two trail options, the Loafer Creek Trail or the Freeman Trail, which goes along the stunning Feather River. Bike riders can take the Freeman Trail, check out the Oroville State Wildlife Area with its 11,000 acre, or do some road biking.

Fishing is plentiful at Lake Oroville. In fact, it has a reputation for being the best place to catch Bass in California. So pick up some bait and your tackle box and head out to fish! Maybe you make one of the next record breaking catches. Some current records are 97lb. White Sturgeon, 19lb. 11 oz. Chinook Salmon, and 10lb. 4oz. Coho Salmon. Yo-yo! Come stay at the Holiday Inn Chico and check out the National Yo-Yo Museum. The National Yo-Yo Museum is the largest yo-yo museum in the country and will not disappoint! In fact, it houses the largest working wood yo-yo in the world from the Guinness Book of World Records in 1982.

The museum was formed in 1993 with the vision of collecting yo-yos and representing the history of the yo-yo. It also began hosting the National Yo-Yo Championship and the National Yo-Yo League. The National Yo-Yo Championship is held the first Saturday in October every year.

The museum has yo-yos and yo-yo memorabilia dating from the 1920s to today. You can see the yo-yo’s beautiful beginning to its cutting edge technology today. In addition to excellent exhibits, the National Yo-Yo Museum also offers FREE yo-yo lessons on Saturdays from 12-2p.m.

Museum hours are from 10a.m.-6p.m. on Mondays through Saturdays and 12-5p.m. on Sundays. Click here for directions.
